1. Workload Visibility

Do you have a single, current view of who is working on what this week and next?
Can you see at a glance which people/roles are over 100% loaded and which have slack?
Is unplanned work (fire drills, escalations) tracked somewhere, not just in Slack/email?

2. Demand and Forecasting

Can you reasonably forecast demand (by client, project, product line, or equivalent) for the next 4–12 weeks?
Do commercial teams (sales, account management, customer success) share upcoming work in a way that feeds operations planning?

3. Capacity and Constraints

Do you know your critical roles (e.g., a few key people gone = major slowdown)?
Can you identify your top 2–3 systemic bottlenecks (e.g., QA, onboarding, pre-sales)?
Are overtime, burnout signals, or repeated weekend work visible and monitored?

4. Process and Handoffs

Are key workflows (e.g., onboarding, delivery, support/escalations) documented?
Do handoffs between teams (e.g., Sales → Delivery, Delivery → Support) have clear owners and expectations?

5. Metrics and Monitoring

Do you review a small, consistent set of ops metrics weekly (throughput, cycle time, backlog, etc.)?
Do you track financial metrics related to operations (e.g., cost per project, operational profitability, resource cost-efficiency)?
Do you have clear visibility into capacity vs. demand through a dashboard or report, rather than using ad-hoc spreadsheets?

6. Hiring and Scaling

Do you have simple rules of thumb for when to hire in each key function (based on demand/capacity)?
Can you simulate “what if we add/remove one person here?” and see the approximate impact?
Do new hires ramp into a clear role with a defined workload, not just “help where needed”?
